Bro. Wilson was placed in an orphanage in Tiffin, Ohio at the age of eleven when his parents passed away.  At the age of eighteen he left the orphanage and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. His older brother took him to church where he was baptized in Jesus Name and was filled with the Holy Ghost. He was a faithful member and deacon of the First Apostolic Church of Cincinnati until moving to Frankfort, Kentucky in 1964.

Bro. Wilson received the call to the ministry shortly after receiving the Holy Ghost. He preached weekend revivals with Bro. Elza Wilson in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky during the fifties and early sixties. He played the guitar and sang. He was known for singing                                "If Jesus Leads This Army.
